A Run Can Change a Day, A Life, The World: Brooks

A Run Can Change a Day, A Life, The World: Brooks

July 29, 2020

"We believe a run can change a day, a life, the world" - Brooks

Made by runners for runners. Brooks focuses on providing high quality running shoes that fit right and feel great the moment you put your feet in.

How have they become and continue to be one of the most successful and most popular running shoe brands on the market? The answer is simple, they live by the following 6 principles:

1. Running is a gift, Run Happy. Every day with a run is better. Every run brings you closer to your best self. And you end every run in a better place than you started.

2. Build great running gear. When your focus is what you do best, you do it better. Brooks' goal is to make each run better than the last, this guides every engineering choice they make.

3. Try, try, and try again. Brooks engineer their gear in the lab, but they bring it to like on the unique, real world humans who will wear it. This is the result of tireless biomechanical research with runners of every size, strength and experience. But most of all, it's the result of listening.

4. Sweat every detail. The process is simple: create solutions for runners, test them over miles, assess feedback ad repeat. Every groove in the roles of your Brooks shoes, every inch of fabric in your hear and every single stitch has a reason to exist. If it doesn't improve your run, you won't see it in their gear.

5. The planet is our home. More than 100 million people run outside, so t's critical we care for the world we share. That means Brooks works hard to minimize their environmental impact, creating positive social impact, and being transparent about areas where they can do better. All the while, giving back and supporting causes that get people moving.

6. We are all runners. This is as much for them as it is for you and I. Their offices have locker rooms. They run on lunch, in between meetings, pretty much anytime they can. Put simply, they make the best running gear because hey want to go running in it!

Brooks Runners

"The proof is in the run, not marketing speak. When we deliver on our promises, you have a better run. Let’s celebrate together the transformative power of the run. And let’s shine a spotlight on those who inspire us not just to run, but to be better people as a result." - Jim Weber, Brooks Running CEO

My Run Story: Mom of 4 and a 250 pound, plus size runner
My Run Story: Mom of 4 and a 250 pound, plus size runner

August 31, 2021

My running story starts like most runners', I was not a runner. I bought an indoor treadmill in the fall of 2017 and used it for about 6 months with the intent of getting into running. Two days after my 43rd birthday in March of 2018, I stumbled, tripped and did a nose-dive into the rabbit hole that is the seemingly innocent, non-addictive world of running and attempted my first “outdoor” run. And no, I was not being chased by a bear nor was someone trying to snatch my purse - all comments and perceptions people of my stature often receive when others see us running outside. I simply laced up an old pair of Saucony’s, put on some good music, and started walking until I got to the part of the park where I was not visible to the street traffic. As a plus size runner, one of the things we fear most is being seen by onlookers or made fun of. My walk quickly turned into a jog and my jog into a run until finally I had an overwhelming sense of pride and accomplishment beaming from within. I was becoming a runner.
