Our Story

Orthoquest began in 2007 by a dynamic husband and wife duo Lise Dallien MacMillan and Sean MacMillan, during the day they saw patients at various health clinics around Kelowna then at night, in their single car garage, manufactured Orthotics. Fast forward 13 years, the many ups and downs of starting a small business and finding their “niche”, Orthoquest now has a beautiful store front in Kelowna that combines orthotics, shoes, bracing, and kinesiology, working together with the combined goal of helping people Move Well, Be Well.

Why Orange and Green? The colours of Orthoquest and Kelowna Kinesiology were inspired by Lise’s cargo commuter bike, the Yuba Boda Boda.

Our Focus on The Environment

One of our core company values is to honour our planet. We strive to do this every day beginning with simple things like having a large company recycling system, trying to avoid using paper as much as possible (like a waste free intake form!), using hand towels instead of disposable paper towels, opting for active methods of transportation and many more!

We also go out of our way to find companies whose values are also centre around sustainability and being environmentally conscious. Brands we love for their environmental initiatives include Brooks, Oboz, and Sole.

Environmental initiatives we are a part of:

Shoe Bank Canada: We are very happy to be an official drop-off location for Shoe Bank Canada for the Kelowna area! Donations of your gently-used or new footwear help Canadians across and remaining shoes are also shipped to the less-fortunate overseas. It is such a great cause to help someone have clean and comfortable footwear and have the chance to experience a better quality of life as well as more opportunities!

ReCork : We are a drop-off location to help support ReCork. This program recycles and re-purposes cork with a large network of recycling partners like the SOLE products we carry in-store. This program helps support the use of cork instead of environmentally harmful, petroleum-based materials in consumer products.

Got wine corks? Bring them to use and we will gladly recycle them!

One More Tree: Oboz Footwear started in 2007, and since their beginning have planted a tree for every pair of boots and shoes sold! While they often head out to their own backyard in Bozeman, Montana to get their hands dirty most of their efforts are focused on their partnering with Trees for The Future, a non-profit that helps individuals and communities in Sub Saharan Africa plant trees and help local farmers. As of spring 2020, Oboz has planted over 3.2 million trees.

Our Involvement in Our Community

As a small business, we see the value and importance of supporting other local entrepreneurs and non-profit organisations. While we actively support other small shops by choosing to shop local, we also make it a priority to find creative ways to collaborate with other businesses in Kelowna. Outside of regular business hours you can find us volunteering or supporting various non-profit organizations such as the BCSPCA, Kelowna Run Club, X-Elle Women’s Cycling group, The Kelowna Women’s Shelter and many more. The importance of sharing our knowledge by helping to teach and share information with our community is not lost on us either, we host several community events throughout the year all aimed to help people Move Well, Be Well.

Be sure to come by and meet our two, loving greeter dogs!

Our team is here to help you Move Well, Be Well

Orthoquest is open for orthotic, bracing, compression sock, and shoe fitting appointments. In following with the rules and regulations set out by the  provincial health authority, we are continuing to implement proper physical distancing practices and cleaning procedures.

Our Kinesiologists are also here to help.  As of May 25th, Kelowna Kinesiology will be transitioning from virtual appointments to in-person appointments. We are also continuing to offer online classes.

Please call 250-448-5908 to answer screening questions in order to qualify for an appointment with one of our team members.
