  1. What is a Pedorthist?
    With specialized education and training in foot orthotics and footwear, Canadian Certified Pedorthists help to alleviate pain, abnormalities and debilitating conditions of the lower limbs and feet. As proud members of patients’ healthcare teams, Canadian Certified Pedorthists consult with patients based on a referral from physicians, nurse practitioners and other healthcare providers. The goal of every Canadian Certified Pedorthist is to help patients achieve and maintain proper foot care and lower limb health, and live healthy, active lives. All orthotics and or footwear modifications and custom shoes are proudly designed and manufactured by our Kelowna company!   2. What is a Kinesiologist (Exercise Specialist)?
    A professional designation associated with the assessment of movement, performance, and function; and the rehabilitation, prevention, and management of disorders to maintain, rehabilitate, and enhance movement, performance, and function in the areas of sport, recreation work, exercise, and general activities of daily living. Not to be confused with applied kinesiology, a controversial chiropractic diagnostic method. More information about the BC Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK)
  3. Will insurance cover your services?
    Some plans cover our Pedorthic services. A physicians written referral is required. We do not bill private medical plans. You are responsible for paying at the appointment and submitting your receipt for reimbursement when applicable.
  4. What about third party coverage?
    Some plans may cover some of our services such as DVA, HNIHB, Insurance Corporation of BC (ICBC), Worksafe BC, RCMP. We can direct bill our services to these third parties. 
  5. What should I expect at a Kinesiology Assessment?
    Kinesiology Assessment: A full orthopedic history is taken, health screening and lifestyle questionnaires are reviewed and discussed with each patient. A postural assessment is performed reviewing patient’s postural insufficiencies with digital photos. A movement screen is performed to discover unusual movement patterns. Strength, flexibility and range of motion tests are performed. From this information, a program is created to address postural deficiencies, strength and flexibility limitations in order to move more effectively.
  6. I have an open ICBC claim and have been referred for Kinesiology. What is the process?
    You will require approval from your ICBC adjuster before coming to your initial assessment appointment. You must bring your claim number, adjusters name, phone, fax and/or email. If you have not received approval prior to your first appointment you must be prepared to pay for your session.
  7. I have been referred for Kinesiology or for Pedorthic products from my lawyer. What is the process?
    You will need to bring your lawyers name and contact information with written approval that they will be responsible for covering your sessions/product. If you do not have this information you will be responsible for paying for your appointment.
  8. What can I expect at a Pedorthic assessment?
    At your initial pedorthic assessment you should have a referral from your physician, a variety of shoes you wear at home, work, sports, leisure as well as shorts. Your medical history will be discussed. Your shoes examined. Your feet will be measured. We will assess joint range of motion, tested at the feet, ankle and hip. We will evaluate your leg length. Your posture and gait will be analyzed and explained to you. If foot orthotics are recommended, you will be casted.
  9. Do you bill NIHB (First Nations and Inuit Health Branch)?
    Yes, we bill NIHB following a prior approval process. A physician’s referral is necessary as well as your id/health care number.
  10. What is your return policy?
    - Applies to non-custom products only
    - Two week return policy on regularly priced items
    - All sale items are final sale 
    - Socks are non-refundable/non-returnable 
    - Item must be in new condition and cannot have modifications
    - Original receipt required
